I realize this is a topic that has been beaten to death but before I give up and switch to another brand, I thought I'd give this one last shot.... 3rd gen Nest Thermostat - purchased 18 months ago (i.e. no warranty). Suddenly lost wifi connectivity last night - upstairs 2nd gen is working just fine. Have gone through the laundry list of diagnostics on my own and with a chat support person with no luck. This is apparently NOT the w5 error issue (no errors, just doesn't see ANY networks although there are multiple easily identified by other wifi devices including my 2nd gen Nest).
I'm wondering if anyone is seeing this issue recently and had any better luck with your interactions with Google other than "you have to go buy another one". I'm already researching other options like Honeywell but it's a tough choice given I have multiple Nest devices and like the single platform but replacing these devices every 18 months is a pretty expensive proposition and not sustainable for a retiree.
Thanks!

We are in the exact same boat! Battery has been dying sporadically and taking almost 2 hours to charge. Best hasn’t connected to WiFi in almost a year but didn’t care as long as we have a/c. Did a replacement with Google and received it today. Although the replacement cost us $200 which is to be refunded as soon as they receive the old Nest. We shall see 🤷🏻♀️ Connected the new NEST and back to the same issues, no internet connection and the battery needs to be charged. Let see what happens in 2 hours. At this point I am ready to hire an electrician and go back to the basic thermostat. #GoogleNestSucks

@MocaTina41- thanks for the reply. I empathize with your frustration for sure. To be clear, there are some fundamental differences in my situation: 1) battery is fully charged and always has been; 2) The Nest thermo worked for 18 months with no issues - suddenly, last night it is not seeing ANY wifi networks even though my 2nd gen can see my wifi network and 2 neighbors when located in the same spot. This smells a lot like the W5 error. There was a lot of speculation that error was caused by an update by google but I'm not sure it was substantiated. HW failure or firmware/software, having wifi capability fail after 18 month is unacceptable. Again, just hoping there are others who maybe have seen this specific situation and have any positive input before I ditch this themo. THANKS

UPDATE for anyone following this thread - I broke down and replaced the Nest 3rd gen thermo. I only replaced the display and left the base as is. The wifi is working now so this was either a H/W and/or firmware failure. Will be interested to know if this is a pervasive problem with other Nest owners given it is only 18 months old.

Hi Jake. Thanks for checking in. To be clear… I had to buy a new Nest thermo. My original device failed and can no longer find any WiFi networks.

Hi Ryan. I did see his response. No need for additional help since my only issue was a faulty nest thermo. I replaced and the new one is working. Thx
