No power to thermostat E code TD023

Hi I just purchased a nest thermostat E. I have watched various you tube installations etc. but when I plug my thermostat E into a main socket it is like it’s completely dead? I’ve tried different sockets in my house and even a different charging plug?! Still no power? I read somewhere to pop the front off and charge via the micro usb charger? Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks

I have just opened the box and tried to set up mine and I'm having the exact same issue. Also tried multiple plug sockets. Does anyone have a solution or is my Nest Thermostat E faulty.

I left it plugged in for a few hours and it eventually came up with a battery symbol and now I have a "house" symbol. but I'm getting a TD21(6012) error

Go it working after doing a hard reset
