The other morning my thermostat didn’t cut on from 7-9am and it was set on 70. When I saw it at 9 it was reading 64 in the house but still set on 70. We turned the learning capability off. Today it didn’t turn on at all 8-9am. I know the house for below 70 during this time and it should have cut on. What is going on? How do we fix this.

I’m having the exact same problem. I have a Goodman furnace. What do you have?
12-22-2022 06:38 PM
Not sure off the top of my head at the moment but I don’t think it has to do with the furnace as we never had this issue with our old thermostats

I'm had a similar issue twice over the last week. I noticed that it happened when the temp outside went down to approximately 30 degrees both times. I wonder if there is some how a connection...

That is so strange! It has been extremely cold here the past few days. One would think that wouldn’t trigger the heat to stop.

Did you find a fix for this? Mine has been doing this now and my temp outside is 2 windchill -30. I can’t get the house to get past 67. Wake up today to 64

We turned the auto learning features off on the app. That seemed to help. We are still having issues with it though. Last night I had cut it up to 72 and it was 67 in the house. It’s below zero here so this has been frustrating. It was 65 in my sons room last night. When I saw that I cut it up to 75 and it cut on. I just needed it to continue running. I joined a Google nest Facebook group and asked about it in there. Hoping for some good feedback there.

Hi Lc6,
I hope your heat is doing well. Have you learned anything on FB?

No Ive been too busy!

Hey! Thank you! So apparently heat pumps aren’t made for extremely cold temps (below 20s) and that is one reason this is happening. Our “aux heat” has been on for several days and that is our emergency heat. Also turn all auto settings off in your app like away from home settings (energy savings etc). I still haven’t gotten to the root of the problem but that’s a few things people have been saying. We already had all those settings off though.

Someone also said check the filter, make sure unit isn’t frozen over, get hvac personnel out asap, and call nest to make sure it’s wired correctly.

hey everybody! Sorry for the delay in responding, So my furnace was having this issue. The water was not draining out of the internal pipe so the furnace would go into a lockout for several hours and then kick on. We just had an HVAC technician make an alternate path for the water today. Hopefully it will work.

Hi Suefoo,
Thanks for the update. That's why your Nest Thermostat has a safety mechanism against hazardous energy. It's good to hear that you're able to get an expert to see your system. Sounds like a plan.
Keep us posted.
Best,
Jenelyn
