Hi all. Everything was working fine until lastest/April2025 update and now Google Home is unable to communicate to the Nest thermostat gen3 and Google Home is unable to control the stat. I am unable to link/populate my Nest thermostat gen3 to Google Home app. It has disappeared since the update from the Google Home app. My Nest stat functions fine by itself and I am able to control it in the Nest app, just Google can't control it. I received an email from Nest that Google account is linked but in Google Home app it is not there. I have tried multiple times to link the Nest stat in Google home but keeps getting error: "Oops! We've encountered an error. Please try again."

Hi ET_Chief,
Thank you for posting in the community. I see you’re having trouble with your Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd Gen) which is unable to communicate with your Google Home app and isn’t displaying stats since the update back in April 2025. I understand that when you try to re-link it, you receive the error message: "Oops! We've encountered an error. Please try again". I appreciate all the troubleshooting steps you’ve already taken. Let’s work together to find a solution.
Currently, those specific options aren't available in the Google Home app because the Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd gen) is only linked to the Nest app. However, we’re always looking for ways to improve the user experience. Please consider sharing your thoughts and insights through the feedback form so we can incorporate them in future updates.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Regards,
Byron

Bryon, are you an authorized rep of Google Nest Thermostat? Are you saying since the recent update & since the acquisition of Nest Lab, 2014, by Google, Google Home app does not support nor work with the Nest thermostat 3rd. But before then "those specific options" (communicate with Nest thermostat) worked fine. Does that mean that the 4th gen Nest also "Currently, those specific options aren't available in the Google Home app"? Or this a tactic used to get customers to dump their perfectly working Nest thermostat 3rd gen and buy the new 4th gen just because a new model is available. Is this the model of business that is being deployed? So when the 5th gen Nest becomes available, is the same thing going to happen as now that it all of sudden stops communicating if Google Home app and we the consumer must upgrade to the newer version. Is this a sign of things to come with Google Nest? Bryon, lease advise me as an authorized rep of Google Nest Thermostat so that I can save myself some headaches and hard earned money and just throw away my perfectly good working Nest thermostat which doesn't communicate with Google Home since the update and buy Ecobee. They don't treat their loyal customers that way...What? Nest thermostat was working fine till Google bought Nest Lab out in 2014
