Just installed google nest 2020 no c wire:

From the power info screen it reads the following:

Vin: 31.378V

Lin: 281(S)

PS Y-385, YS-281, YP-2

The expected ranges for those values are listed in the "power" section of this help article:
Nest thermostat information menu - Google Nest Help

Also the article didn't mention the readings PS Y-385, YS-281, YP-2. What do those numbers mean? Thanks

Hi folks,

@CANADIAN77, thanks for posting here in the Community forum, and I'm sorry to hear about the situation. Let me take a look at this for you.

The numbers you've seen on the Power Info of your Nest Thermostat are its power readings from the voltage it gets from your HVAC system along your thermostat wires. Question: Are you seeing any messages or codes on your Nest Thermostat or on the app? If so, please let me know; I'll be looking forward to your response.

I appreciate your help, @davidking.

Best,

Zoe

Hey thanks for the reply, no messages or error codes on the nest thermostat or the app as of yet.

The linked article above shows,

Nest Thermostat

with or without C wire

  • Voc: 29 to 42V
  • Vin: 29 to 42V
  • lin: 200 to 385 mA

mine is not showing VOC? any reasons why?

My power readings are:

Vin: 31.378V

Lin: 281(S)

PS Y-385, YS-281, YP-2

Hello there,

I know it has been a while, but I wanted to ensure that everything was covered here.

Thanks for the help here, Zoe.

@CANADIAN77, it appears that you have the Nest Thermostat 2020 model. Based on its power readings, if the LIN is less than 200 mA, the system should be recommended to install a stable power source. Technically, it should be above 200mA for it to be fully operational with all features enabled. To confirm, do you have a Nest power connector installed? If so, your thermostat is reading 385 as it is detecting enough power from your system. Also, are you having any power-related issues?

Let us know if you need more help.

Best,
Mark

Thanks for the reply,

The model I am using is: Model # GA01334-CA

No I don't have the power connector installed and not using a C wire. The wires I have hooked up to it are Y W G R. Not having any issues with it so far. Just wanted to confirm if the power readings are good.

Thanks

Hi CANADIAN77,

Sounds great! I see no indication of low power with your thermostat's current power status. With this, continue using your thermostat without any changes. You can check out this article on how to tell if you need the Nest Power Connector.

Feel free to let us know if you have more questions in mind.

Best regards,
Mark
