Position of heat link unit

Looking to buy a Nest E and wondering if the heat link can go in our loft space next to the boiler? We have a baxi control there at the moment and the RF receiver is in the loft next to the boiler so I assume the heat link would replace this? Is it OK for it to go here (will be within the 30m range of themostat) or will it have any impact as the loft is a lot cooler than the house below!

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. You can install the Heat Link in the loft, but make sure it's at least 30cm away from your boiler, or other metal objects. The thermostat will connect to it wirelessly and if you ever lose connection, you can always move the thermostat closer to it.

Thanks for the response. Based on the pdf guide I need to find the common and normally open wires. I was assuming I could take these from the existing RF receiver but unsure which are which now! Any advice gratefully received.

Correct. You will need a live wire in terminal C and the wire that goes to the boiler in terminal N0, most common installation. The FP terminal is only used for certain systems common in France and the OT1/OT2 terminals are for OpenTherm boilers. If you are not sure which wire is which in the system it would be best to get in touch with an installer or electrician to help you identify the wires in the system. You can check to see if you see what wire leads to your boiler, if there is only one that would be most likely the one needed for the N0 terminal.
