Possible DOA thermostat

A friend has just got a Thermostat E. He has plugged in the thermostat into the usb plug and into a socket but it’s not switching on at all, nothing on the display.

Looks DoA to me, but I figured I would ask in here just in case there is a known issue that can be fixed?

I can reply to this myself...

Despite it not saying in the app or the instructions, there is a period that the unit must charge for before it will come on. Guessing it's about half an hour.

Would be really simple to say this in the app!

Hi TonyCannon,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear about the Nest Thermostat E of your friend. I would just like to clarify, did the thermostat turn on after being charged for 30 minutes?

Thanks,

Edward

Hi, yes it did - but this scenario really should be spelled out very clearly on the packaging, a sticker on the thermostat saying "could take a while to charge" would be a good idea

Hi Jeran, it's all up and running, could be clearer in the packaging that it might need charging though that's for sure!

Thank you for checking

Hiya TonyCannon,

I totally get that, when I first got my thermostat, it took me a minute to realize it needed to be charged as well. I will pass it up to let Google know that it's not obvious at all. For now, I'll go ahead and lock up the thread.

Have a good one!

Best regards,

Jeran
