Power Connector/ Separate AC and heating units/ one Thermostat

My nest thermostat keeps going dead. I do not have a C wire and believe after 3 years of draining and recharging has beaten up the ion battery to where it wont hold a charge for very long. I have come across the nest power connector to hopefully solve my C wire problem. I have a separate Ac unit (Rc, Y, G) and a Radiant heat/hot water unit (Rh,W). My question is can I hook the power connector to just my heating unit. Will the connector still give power to the thermostat even when I am only running the AC unit during the summer.  The instructions of the power connector only say for heat only, ac only and heating/ac unit but i am assuming being a combined unit.

Which Nest Thermostat do you have? I hope it's the Nest Learning Thermostat.

The Nest Power Connector will work just fine but you want to set it up on the cooling side and not the heating side. Follow the instructions for the cooling only and connect the R wire on the Poer Connector to the Rc (R) terminal on the A/C. Connect the heating wires to the W and Rh terminals of the thermostat.

Hello aatienza, if my air handler does not have a c terminal will this power connector still work?

Hey Patrick,

Sorry to make sure I get this right. I am connecting the Y and Rc wire from the thermostat to the grey wires of the power connector. Which of the white wires from the power connector are going to the air handler? For my heater, the wiring is staying the same Rh and W from the thermostat directly to the heater correct?
