Power outage for Nest Thermostat (removable aaa batteries)

jc1949

I have a question about behavior after a 3 day power outage.  I have a C wire feeding the unit.

1.   Will the two aaa removable batteries be depleted ?

If so, what happens when the power returns after three days?

I plan to leave town for a week or two and power outages of multi days can happen here in new england.   Just want to know what happens after the power comes back

Hi jc1949,

Thanks for reaching out to Google Nest Community forum.

It's good to know that you have a C wire but, when the power outage occurs, it uses its batteries as its main power. The longer days without power, the faster the battery drains.

Once your power returns without issues with the batteries, the thermostat will stay online on the Google Home app. But if not, you will be needing to change the batteries to reconnect.

Have a look at this article and let us know if you need more help.

Jenelyn
