Problem connecting the Nest app to the thermostat

Thermostat works great on the wall, shows connected to WiFi with strong signal.  It controls the furnace just fine. During the Nest App setup, after scanning the QR code to add the device it says, trying to connect…something went wrong. I’ve tried the alpha numeric code instead of the QR with same results. I reset the settings and tried again with the same results. Any ideas?

Hey Azwc,

Sorry to hear about your Nest thermostat but thanks for posting. I want to dig deeper into this.

A few questions — what specific Nest thermostat is this? Is this a first time setup or has this thermostat worked on another phone/Nest app before? Also, are you getting a specific code or message?

I would also suggest that you try the suggested tips and troubleshooting steps here: https://bit.ly/3KtAgrp

Keep me posted.

Best,

Hi Melba, thanks for reaching out.  The problem I’m having is with an initial setup of the Nest app trying to pair with a new Nest Learning Thermostat with the blue bubble.   Using the setup code or the QR code yields the same error message:

”something went wrong, the app is having trouble conmecting to the assisting Nest product….TD024(4.8)”

I have good wifi coverage and the thermo works fine with manual adjustments.  It just won’t connect to the app.  I’ve tried multiple devices running IOS with the same result.  I’ve reset the nest to initial settings, still no help.  I’ve also tried different wifi routers.  Any ideas?
