QR Code and Entry mode Do Not Work

We recently reset our wifi and needed to re-add our thermostats to our home App.

The QR code immediately takes a blurry photo every time and fails to connect.

The Code Entry method asks me to choose the last four digits of the serial from a list it never populates. just gives a blank screen.

My house is freezing. Every day I'm battling against this thing trying to run my AC to 65 degrees. please help.

You selected you have the Nest Learning Thermostat, which is setup in the Nest app and not Home app.

Try these steps:

  1. If you haven’t already, download the Nest app on a phone or tablet.
  2. On the Nest app home screen, tap the Settings cog.
  3. Tap Add product. The app will switch to a camera view to scan the thermostat’s QR code.
  4. On the thermostat, press it to open the quick view menu and tap the Settings cog.
  5. Turn the ring to select Nest app and press to open it.
  6. Select QR code. Your thermostat will show you a unique QR code to scan with the app. If it doesn't, tap Continue without scanning in the app and select Get entry key on your thermostat instead.
  7. Follow the remaining steps in the Nest app.

Every screen that you described is what I'm doing in the home app after selecting nest thermostat. The set up screens are there. The QR function takes the image too quickly and blurry to read it. The entry mode doesn't finish loading the selection list. I'm assuming this must be a canned response to keep the reply counts up since I already described both of those points in my post.

To double check, what model of thermostat do you have? Here's how you can check:

When creating your question, you selected you have the Nest Learning Thermostat. You said you're trying to set it up in the Home app, which will not work. You need to use the Nest app. The steps I shared above will only work in the Nest app, not the Home app.
