Hello,
I have accidentally thrown away the battery tab that you pull out on the temperature sensor.
I didn’t know that the tab has the QR code necessary for set up.
what could I do to install the sensor to my third generation nest learning thermostat?

Hi Hgrubner,
Thanks for reaching out to our community.
I see you accidentally threw away the battery pull tab on your Nest Temperature Sensor, unaware that it contained the necessary QR code for setup. I understand your concern about how to proceed with installing the sensor to your Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd gen. Don't worry, I can certainly help with this!
Here's what you can do to find the QR code and set up the Nest Temperature Sensor using the Nest app (since you are connecting to a Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd gen):
If you have the Nest Temperature Sensor (1st gen): Insert a coin into the slot on the back of the sensor and turn it to unscrew and remove the backplate. The QR code will be inside.
If you have the Nest Temperature Sensor (2nd gen): The backplate can be turned by hand to open it. The QR code will be inside.
1. Tap the Settings icon (gear) on the home screen.
2. Tap Add Product.
3. The app will switch to a camera view to scan the QR code.
That should get your sensor installed and working! Let me know how it goes.
Best regards,
Virna
