Trane electric AC/gas heat installed 2000 Honeywell tstat. Only has 4 wires connected to R, W, Y, G. Durning my installation, I saw a note pop up that I didn’t have a C which would provide constant power. I can’t find where to go back to see if I can add a jumper. It is working but will probably run down the batteries quicker. Can I install a jumper? Here is pic of old tstat. Yes, the wire on the Y is actually blue in color, but I put a Y marker and put on the Y terminal.
Thanks

Hi DannyBevills,
Thanks for reaching out and we're sorry for the delay.
If you're using the Nest thermostat 2020 and you saw the message that you need to have a common wire connected, you can do a complete factory data reset and then install the C wire and you could run the set up process again. That will detect the newly connected C wire and you'll be able to get a stable power to keep your thermostat running and connected to your Wi-Fi. That will also save the 2 batteries at the back of it.
I hope it helps.
Best regards,
Ryan

Ryan, thanks for the reply. I don’t have a C wire. My old thermostat didn’t use one. Could a jumper from the red power wire be connected to the C terminal in the nest? Thanks

Hi DannyBevills,
If your system doesn't have a C wire available or a spare wire, you could check out this Nest Power Connector. This will provide a stable power to your thermostat to prevent Wi-Fi disconnection and to prevent the battery from draining.
I hope it helps.
Best,
Ryan
