Questions about nest thermostats

Rebel230

I am looking to upgrade my 3 pro1 T705 thermostats. The 2 that are for heat only have a W wire and a RH wire. The 1 that does cooling has a W wire and a RC wire.

My question is for the cooling one. Sometimes just to circulate the air in the house, even though we do not have it on cool we can just click the fan to on.

Will I still have this functionality on the nest thermostat or the 3rd Gen nest learning thermostat? Thank you.

Hi Rebel230,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Google Nest Community.

Forced-air systems run the fan whenever they’re heating or cooling. If your forced air system has a separate fan wire in your Nest thermostat’s G connector, you can run the system fan when it’s not heating or cooling. If not, your fan will only run automatically when your system is heating or cooling.

If you have a system with a dedicated fan wire, you can manually turn on the fan with the app or your thermostat, or set a fan schedule. For example, you can set the fan to run all night and automatically turn off in the morning.

Ryan
