After trouble shooting with Nest Support, after calling air conditioning service, I had to replace my nest learning thermostat. I suspect that during a thunderstorm, an electrical surge must have damaged the device and suddenly it started calling for heat when I had it set to air conditioning, and it would not detect the C wire.
I'm wondering if I can get the old one repaired. And if it's worth doing so.

There is nowhere that I have heard of that can repair one.

Hey folks,
Thanks for your response, Patrick_Caezza.
ocunnacam, Patrick is right. I'm afraid we don't have repair service centers but we'll definitely take this as feedback and pass it along to our team. If I may ask, when and where was your Nest Learning Thermostat bought and what country are you in? I might be able to check on your warranty options.
Best,
Melba

Thank you, Melba for your reply. I'm in the USA and already checked my warranty. Nest rep told me I have no option other than to buy a new one, which I already did.

Hey there,
Got it and thanks for these added details. I'm also glad to hear that you've got yourself a working one as there's nothing much that we can do when a device is already out of warranty.
Rest assured that we'll take this as feedback and pass it along to the team. Keep an eye out on this Community page or follow our social channels for news and updates.
Best,
Melba
