Replacement thermostat not connecting to heat link

My replacement 3rd Generation thermostat refuses to pair with the heat link. The light is flashing blue and I’ve placed the stat close to the link. It has not asked for the pairing code.

Thanks for reaching out to us @PeterG here.

It is good you brought the devices together, this minimises the risk of interference.

After it fails to connect it should give you the option to continue. After that you should see several options if you rotate the display. One of the last options should be "Replace Heat Link"

Select that option and before putting in the pairing key from the Heat Link, make sure to reset it one more time by pressing and holding the button on it for 25 seconds. Just to make sure it is in pairing mode. You will get a slow pulsing blue LED after.

Now put in the pairing key and it should connect.

Hello again,

Just checking in. How's it going with your thermostat?

Hi, I have the same problem. I have got a flashing blue light on the heat link indicating it is ready to pair. I then go to the thermostat and try to use either the 'reset pairing option' which searches for a heat link but cannot find it. Or I use the 'replace heat link' and enter the code on the bottom of the heat link and again, it does not find it. The thermostat screen simply states h71 error. Any suggestions on what to do? The system was working fine for about 4 months prior to this and there is not issue with the network as it is being used fine with other devices.

Thanks

Hi Ahmed247

I fixed the problem by doing a factory reset on the heat link and restarting the pairing process from scratch. I was a bit reluctant to do a factory reset at first but it worked and the new thermostat is now up and running the heating system.

Good luck with yours.
