Replacement wall mounting bracket for new Google Nest Thermostat

The metal wall mounting bracket that came with my new Google Nest Thermostat or the separately purchased trim plate (not sure which because a licensed HVAC contractor mounted the thermostat) came out of the box with a cross-threaded attachment hole.  The not-so-helpful Google Nest Help Desk indicated that they couldn't help me with what should be an item covered under warranty.  Unbelievable.  I would expect them to quickly ship a new bracket with no questions asked like Delta did with a faucet component.  I can't find the bracket online.  Any suggestions.  So disappointed in the customer service that I was provided by Google Nest.

The plastic plate has no threads so you must be talking about the metal plate.

You only need the metal plate if you have a outlet box inside the wall that the thermostat wire comes out of.

Usually there is no box in the wall for thermostats and you use the wood screws to screw into the stud or use plastic anchors into the sheetrock.

If you need that metal plate it is included in the trim plate kit so you can order another one on Amazon for about $15
