Schedule Thermostat For 15 Minutes, Not One Hour!

Google - Please reduce the thermostat minimum 'on' period to 15 minutes. This is *such* an easy fix so could you action immediately in view of the cost of living crisis.

I want to turn on the thermostat for a quick boost before kids go to bed for 15-30 minutes. I don't want them on for an hour after they're in bed.

I know this has been mentioned before, and I have already submitted feedback via the app, but it's so daft that it hasn't been implemented already, so worth mentioning again.

I personally find it sad for a company of Google's size that the core app functionality has not been updated in about 10 years. I guess now Google has its customers heating and lifestyle habits banked in its data archive, it demonstrates that it doesn't care about the massively increasing heating cost to its customers? Such a simple fix...

Hi bryceb

Nest thermostat schedules follow two simple rules:

  • Target temperatures can be set on the hour or at 15-minute intervals -- like at 7:00, 3:30, or 12:45.
  • Adjacent temperatures must be at least 60 minutes apart.

You can view and edit your current heating schedule on your Nest thermostat or with the Nest app. Check this link for more details.

Mel

Hi, I've had Nest thermostats since 2015 and like them. All I ask is that the 'switch off' intervals are reduced from 60 minutes to 15 or 30 minutes to reduce energy consumption given the cost.

I've read that this is due to boiler cycling concerns. If so, let the shorter intervals carry a warning and give the user the choice! I've lost count of the amount of times I've had to turn the boiler off manually (without fault).

Thanks.
