Schedule not working

I have my sleep schedule on my thermostat to increase the cooling to 78 at 11 pm.  I invariably wake up around 2 or  3 with it freezing cold and the air conditioner still running.  My ap still says its set to 78, but it is still cooling.  I have uninstalled the ap and reinstalled, taken off the sleep cycle completely, and done a factory reset.  No matter what I do, Nest is determined to make it freezing, no matter what the schedule says it is supposed to do.  I can't increase the temperature in the middle of the night, because its already there but the air conditioner doesn't care.  The only thing that has worked so far, is to change it to heat when I wake up in the middle of the night.  I have talked to Google support twice, which didn't help.   Now I can't even get a phone number.  Meanwhile, my electric bill is going through the roof.

To identify the best course of action, please provide me with the following information: 

 

  • What type of thermostat do you have? 
  • What other strange symptoms have you experienced since the problem started?
  • Are there any error messages?
  • Is this a new installation?
  • Do you have a conventional or a heat pump system?
  • When did your system last receive a professional maintenance check?
  • Has there been any recent changes or upgrades to your HVAC system?
  • Is the eco mode enabled? 
  • Would you mind sharing a picture of your wiring configuration?
