Last winter, I installed a nest temperature sensor in tenant’s apartment. The nest learning thermostat (3rd gen) is located in the hallway of the apartment which does not accurately reflect the temperature in the tenant’s bedroom. The sensor is located in the bedroom and less than 10 feet away from the nest thermostat. The sensor worked for about a week then disconnected from the thermostat. I changed the batteries and it failed again after one week. It’s very frustrating for me and the tenant as I have to schedule time to go the apartment and the tenant has to arrange time to be there. Any suggestions on why this sensor keeps disconnecting from the thermostat?

Hi Askcpa,
Thanks for reaching out to us, and I'm sorry to hear about that your Nest Temperature Sensor keeps on getting failed batteries. Let me take a look at this for you.
Did you used a CR2 Lithium battery as you replaced your Nest Temperature Sensor batteries? Also, test the sensor’s connection by performing the following steps:
Let us know how it goes.
Best,
