Thermostat -I tried charging for hours, flashing red light, screen says restarting but it doesn’t

Nest learning thermostat third generation. Worked all last winter but no longer. Flashing red light. Charged it many hours with USB to an outlet. Screen says thermostat is restarting. But it never does and the red light keeps flashing. Please make a useful recommendation. Thank you.

Hi Sudok, 

 

Yikes! I'm sorry to hear that your thermostat is still not working as it should be though was charged already. Let me take a look at this for you. A few questions: 

 

  1. Are you located in North America or Europe?
  2. Are the power breakers on, and do you receive power to your home?
  3. Is the thermostat's display seated properly?
  4. Are all the wires of your thermostat seated firmly in its terminals (with no loose or exposed wires)?
  5. Did you use a micro-USB cable to charge the thermostat?
  6. Have you tried to charge the thermostat using a different micro-USB cable or plugged it in a different power outlet?
  7. Are there any connector pins that are bent at the back of the themostat display?
