Setting up a new android phone with existing nest thermostat

I've tried set up but code does not appear on nest thermostat when prompted during setup.

  • Can you let me know a few details?
  • Are you using the Nest app or the Google Home app?
  • Are you the primary account owner and had used the thermostat before on your old phone?
  • Are there any specific error messages you're receiving in app or on the device (e.g., "continue set up in the Google Home app")?

I am using the nest 

App that was on my old phone.  I'm the primary account owner.  The thermostat will not display the code the app is looking for.  The Stat appears in Google home.
