Stop Thermostat from Gonig to Eco Mode

Google Support was useless, thankfully reddit support came to the rescue. Solution here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Nest/comments/1jbc99q/disable_auto_eco/
How is it that random people on the internet know Google products more than the support staff? Its embarrassing really

When I switch to away in the google home app, the thermostat switches to eco mode

I have disabled home and away automations, I removed presence sensing using my phone, but still it keeps switching to eco mode.

There should be a toggle or something to disable auto eco. How do I stop this from switching to eco mode its so annoying

No, I use home assistant to control my home away automations include switching my thermostat to eco mode. Home assistants home/away is way more accurate as it uses the GPS location as well as my SSID to determine if I'm home .

@jamal01 ,

So you purchased a smart thermostat with the ability to save you energy costs by running your HVAC system more efficiently.  And now you want to disable the key energy efficiency capability of the Nest Learning Thermostat?

To make your super intelligent Google Nest Thermostat not be so smart, just disable:

Home/Away Assist

Early On

Auto Schedule

Cool to Dry

SunBlock

Set ECO Heat to 43, Set ECO Cooling to OFF.

Next, go to you Nest Thermostat display and the mode you want ( Heat or Cool)

Set the temperature set point you desire.
Your Google Nest Thermostat will now no longer attempt to save you energy costs.
