Stupid hole under nest thermostat. Do NOT stick a pin in this!

I was so stupid and I did. Now I can't get the thermostat to connect. Removing the batteries does nothing. The only thing that is happening is a white square flashes onto the screen. I don't know if anyone knows how to fix this or if I'm going to have to swallow my pride and exchange it. @

Thanks for posting ― let's see whats going on.

A few question: what thermostat model do you have? You can check this link to know what device you have. Has your thermostat been setup before? 

Give these steps a try:

1. Restart your Nest Thermostat.
2. If the issue persists, factory reset your device. Check this guide for more details.
