Temperature sensor data via API

jason06

I am able to see my thermostat data via API, but temperature sensor data doesn't appear to be available in the Devices List API.  Am I looking in the correct place?  Is temperature sensor data available somewhere else?  If not, when will it be available via API?

Hi Jake.  Yes.  I see my Thermostat and can interact via API, but the 3 additional temperature sensors aren't available in the devices list

Hey jason06,

I would be more than happy to help you out and ensure your temp sensors are working properly. During setup, you’ll connect your sensor to a thermostat in your home. If you are having trouble connecting that, I would recommend following these steps and trying to connect those again.

  1. Make sure your phone’s Bluetooth is turned on.
  2. Move your sensor to a different location and try to connect it again. Your sensor should be within 50 feet (15 meters) of your thermostat, but it may need to be closer.
  3. The connection range can be reduced by wireless interference from walls, cabinets and bookshelves. If you still can’t connect your sensor after a few tries, check for other things that are causing wireless interference. Cordless phones, microwave ovens, and other electronics can affect the Bluetooth connection.

Please let me know if that helped. You can also check the article here, for more information on how to connect those. Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Jake

This is starting to get frustrating.  Please forward to the API support team.  This is not a product problem, or a setup problem, or a connectivity problem.  The problem is that the sensor data does not appear to be available via API.

Please forward to the API team.  My sensors are set up correctly.  I can see the output of all 3 associated with my thermostat in the NEST app.

What I cannot see are those sensors listed in the data returned in the Devices API.

Yes, I too am in search of an API that I have been using for past 5 years in my own DIY "home dashboard".   I was bringing the data into SPLUNK and created a really clean dashboard.

FYI.  I dont want to use the app.  I want my home dashboards, that I've spent 5 years making to work like they used to.
