Thermostat Wiring from Honeywell to Nest

Community Member

Hello,

I've had a honeywell thermostat on Lennox X4147 and have recently purchase nest gen 3.

Based on existing wiring on the conventional side.
Label = Cable

W2 to W = Jumper
W = White Cable
R = Red Cable

O= Orange Cable
Y = Yellow Cable
G - Green Cable
C = Blue Cable
Any suggestion on how to connect wiring to nest?

Hi acecorpwm,

Thank you for posting in the community! I'm happy to help with your concerns on how to install the Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd generation using the previous wiring installed on the Honeywell thermostat.

I appreciate you sharing that information. Your Nest Learning Thermostat doesn't require a physical jumper between the W2 and W terminals. It has a built-in jumper that activates automatically when necessary. For more details, you can refer to this helpful article: Learn about thermostat jumper wires.

To connect the thermostat, please follow the instructions below:

Important: Before touching any wires, turn off the power to your HVAC system at the breaker box.

  • Remove the jumper between W2 and W.
  • The white wire (W) goes to the W1 terminal.
  • The red wire (R) goes to the RH terminal.
  • The orange wire (O) goes to the O/B terminal.
  • The yellow wire (Y) goes to the Y1 terminal.
  • The green wire (G) goes to the G terminal.
  • The blue wire (C) goes to the C terminal.

Let me know if you have more questions.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
