Thermostat description says it will work with 2 stage heat and 1 stage cooling but no sure.

I have a Goodman heat pump with electric auxiliary/emergency heat. I already have purchased the regular nest thermostat but the compatibility checker says I need the learning one? Not sure why the regular 6 connector thermostat wouldn't work. Please advise thanks

We have 2 Goodman electric heat pumps. I’m not sure why we have to get the Nest Learning Thermostat but we did because that’s what Google said was compatible. My assumption is it may have something to do with the emergency heat wire. It does work and I would recommend getting it. Our only issue right now is that the downstairs thermostat works/connects to Wi-Fi and the upstairs works but it’s always disconnecting from Wi-Fi even though the router is in a bedroom next to it. This will cause us to not have any control over it on the app but the thermostat itself still works. We’re still troubleshooting though!

Thanks for suggesting the learning one. Just got off google nest support chat turns out I can use the regular nest thermostat gen 4 even though the compatibility check said my system wasn't compatible. I have 2 stage heat 1 stage cool all electric. With the upstairs thermostat try switching from 2.4g to 5g or vice versa if your thermostat has that option to see if you get better signal.
