Just moved in two months ago. Our house is a “smart home” which includes a Nest thermo. No matter what I do, the thermostat reverts back to 68*. I want to set it at 72. I do it and inevitably, the thermo goes back to 68*.
Any ideas?

The nest also has a feature called Home and Away. It uses the location of your linked smartphone and when it leave the property, the Nest switches to Away will activate ECO mode. This is an energy conservation method and when your smartphone again arrives at the property, it switches to Home and returns the system mode back to Cool or Heat whichever was active before you left.
With ECO, you need to set the heating and cooling limits you wish. Remembering, a setting for heating and cooling that save money. Common sense is what should prevail here. For example, let heat drop say 5 degrees and set your cooling to something like 6 degrees. Keep in mind that at the end of the season, you might want to adjust the ECO settings.
The Heating and the Cooling schedules are the most misunderstood feature. If you take the time to really understand and create a heating and a cooling schedule, you will be happy.

Your thermostat must have an active heat schedule with that temperature set. Check your heating schedule and correct the temperature there or delete the schedule.

Hi Cooling Wizard 🙂
You're the first person I see on here who may be able to help me. I have a schedule set on my Nest but midday when I have it set at, say, 82, I will stop home for a minute and the cool air will be running and the thermostat will read 79. It seems to only happen certain days of the week, but it happens very regularly. Any ideas? I bought this home with the Nest installed and have a very rudimentary understanding of how to use it, but I do know how to set the schedule.
Thanks!

That fixed it. There was a 68* scheduling daily around 4:00 PM. I erased them all and set the temp to 72. All good now.
Thanks,
