Thermostat not following schedule

I recently edited my schedule for Nest Thermostat but it does not seem to follow the schedule. I have the heat set to turn on at 4:30am to 68 degrees, then at 8am go to 62 degrees and then at 4pm back to 68 degrees. It just stays at 68 degrees and never goes to 62.

Any suggestions....

Hi there, I am an IOS user too~ I spoke with customer service four times about their  NEST THERMOSTAT not following the schedule that I've set. Not going to share the conversation with you since it's way too long. I discovered the reason behind all the hassle~ It's your location service  "presence sensing" under thermostat settings. You can turn that off if you want to, but it will not detect the presence of people and change it to comfort IF YOU do decide to turn that off.

JSYK, there are two kinds of nest thermostats. I have the cheaper version since it is matter-compatible. I saw you have an IOS label, so I assume we both have the same model. You can turn off the home and away assist with the learning thermostat in the settings( the more expensive model, but not ours). If you open your Google Home app, the top left corner of your house name that you created, there's an arrow pointing downward. Once you click it, you can choose either to be away or home. Once you change it to home, even though you are not at home, the thermostat will follow the schedule that you set. That will solve your problem~ I am positive, but you might have to manually change it since once presence sensing detects someone has left the house, IT MIGHT SWITCH IT BACK TO AWAY. BEWARE~ ^.^

If you have other family members, it is good to turn on the presence sensing since the thermostat will detect motion and set it to the HOME setting and raise the temp to the comfort temp that you desire~. Still, when the last person leaves the house, the system will set it as away ( ECO MODE) then the thermostat WILL NOT follow your schedule. I talked to them, and they said they would escalate this issue. I don't know when they will be able to solve this problem, but I hope it is ASAP~ because this is not very Google~ for such a big company like them, this shouldn't have happened to their product.

Thank you for the information. Ever since Google purchased Nest, customer service went in the toilet.

I called again today since I am tired of manually switching it to home, and we found the problem ~  it was the default automation in the Google home app~

Go to automation, under household routines, in away when (when everyone‘s away). Remove eco mode when away! Problem solved. Hope that help

Hi everyone,

I am chiming in to check if you have any additional questions or concerns.

We apologize for the delayed response, @mvp7. Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. We're sorry for any trouble this may have caused you. There are a couple other reasons why the Nest Thermostat changes the temperature automatically, for example. If you recently turned off the auto-schedule, the previous setup might still be in effect. The same goes if you have already set up a manual schedule and remove it, there might be a chance that it will adjust the schedule accordingly. This is part of the Nest Thermostat algorithm.

@wise91, I appreciate you posting and updating us on your efforts to address this concern.

Best,

Renz
