Thermostat on heat system is showing cool

Just installed Nest on heat system. It is only showing "COOL." That line doesn't control the AC, only the heat. How can I correct it?

Hi JimHerr,

It sounds like you're having a bit of trouble with your Nest Thermostat displaying "cool" when you're trying to control the heat. No worries; let's troubleshoot this together.

  • Please make sure that your thermostat is correctly wired to your heating system. Double-check the wiring to ensure it's properly connected. If there are any issues, share with us a photo of your old thermostat and Nest Thermostat's wiring set up.
  • If the wiring seems fine, check the thermostat settings. Navigate through the menu to verify that the thermostat is set up correctly for a heating system. Sometimes, the default settings may need adjustment based on your HVAC setup.
  • If the issue persists, consider restarting the thermostat. This can be done by going to the thermostat settings and selecting the option to restart, or by turning off the power to your HVAC system for a brief moment and then turning it back on.

I hope these suggestions help you get your thermostat working correctly for heating. If you have any further questions or run into more issues, feel free to ask.

Warm regards,
Mark
