Thermostat won't complete setup

Hello all, so my Dad got a second wifi network specifically for his smart home devices and cameras, and trying to change the network was a nightmare which ended up in us deleting the entire home and factory reseting every device which was connected. We got the mesh wifi up, the cameras, and the speakers all working, yet the thermostats won't go past trying to connect. The home app keeps telling me to factory reset them; however, I can't reset them because the thermostat is telling me to finish the setup process in the home app. What do I do. We can't control the heat in the house now and it's pretty freaking cold out.

I have the same problem! I recently upgraded and got a new router, so I had to change all the wifi and reset my nest thermostat. My thermostat just says 'finish connecting in the home app' and I can't do anything on my end. Reset bluetooth, reset router, reset phone, reset thermostat (On the website they say to take it off the wall and take out the batteries, then reinstall) and none of that changed anything!

Remove device from Home app, uninstall then install New Home app then start the process again.  Nest thermostat only works with 2.4 GHz

This didn't work for me unfortunately,  I have other devices that only work on 2.4 GHz, so that shouldn't be the problem either. On the phone with google now, but prospects don't look enticing.

Hello there,

I'm sorry to hear that you're all having issues reconnecting your thermostats to the Google Home app. I'd love to help.

Please give these steps a try:

  1. Since a reset has been made. Please make sure that the thermostats are no longer in the Home app, as stated.
  2. Pull off the thermostat display from its base and remove the batteries for at least 3 minutes before plugging them back in to refresh.
  3. Reset the thermostat to its default settings. This will completely remove all the information being stored before.
  4. Proceed by adding the thermostat to the Google Home app.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Mark

Thanks,

Mark
