Pulling off my old Honeywell thermostat. This was the wiring setup

once I removed plate I found more wires

1000003703.jpg I know what is in common. I have no idea what the rest are. Are they needed? Obviously they weren't before. Can anyone please shed some light on my situation? I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you very much. I'm not going to spend $300 on a thermostat and then turn around and pay $500 for some guy to come out here and connect it. So if anyone could please **bleep** some light I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you

I believe that is standard thermostat wire.  Extra wires there is you need them depending on the complexity of your system.
