Like many others have experienced, my Nest is switching to Eco automatically and I can figure how to stop it. I have a model G4CVZ from the local power company.
This Nest can not be configured with Google Nest app - only Google Home. And there is no Home/Away feature in the settings I can find to shut off Eco as I've seen in many videos and posts. If I try to scan the QR code in Google Nest it just tells me to use Google Home, where this feature doesn't exist.
Please send me instructions specific to this model that I can use. I want to control the settings all the time.
Thanks.

Hi cfdominey,
Yikes! I'm sorry for the late response. To clarify, the model G4CVZ you mentioned refers to a specific version of the Nest Thermostat provided by your local power company. If your Nest Thermostat does not have the Home/Away Assist feature and cannot be configured using the Google Nest app, and you only have access to the Google Home app, you can still control the settings manually to prevent it from switching to Eco mode automatically. Here's what you can do:
Keep in mind that without the Home/Away Assist feature, you'll need to manually adjust the settings as needed. The thermostat will not automatically adjust based on your presence or absence from home.
Let us know how it goes.
Best,
Zoe

Thanks for the response. I know how to manually set the temperature/select the mode. But the unit is shifting into Eco mode whenever we are away or asleep. There has to be a way to turn it off. We want it at a certain temp when we are away for long periods of time. The only thing I know to try now is completely turn off all options under Pressure Sensing.

I meant "Presence Sensing" above

Hi there,
To turn off presence sensing on a Nest Thermostat (2020 model), you can follow these steps:
By turning off presence sensing or Home/Away Assist, the Nest Thermostat will no longer use occupancy detection to adjust its settings based on whether someone is present or away from home. This means that the thermostat will not automatically switch to eco mode or adjust the temperature based on occupancy.
Thanks,
Zoe

Thanks but my model does not have the on screen features you mention. I've tried turning it off from the Home app (the only way I can control Presence Sensing that I can see). We'll see if that works.
