I installed the Nest Thermostat and the furnace is running fine. However, I've read that the Nest Learning Thermostat is "more" compatible with a variable speed furnace which I have. What am I losing, if anything, by not using the Learning Thermostat? Also, do I risk damaging my variable speed HVAC system by using the regular Nest thermostat on one fan speed?

Don't know but my builder put in "learning" thermostats when I specified the regular ones and I hate the "learning" since it ends up just ignoring the schedule I set up and decides to do its own thing and then rewrites the schedule. So, I ended up deacticating the feature. I'd happily swap thermostats with you so you don't have to get the more expensive one.

Thanks for the info. I’m going to install the Learning thermostats on one of my zones and see if it makes any difference w/r/t the variable speed on my furnace blower/fan. If not, I’ll reinstall my regular Nest and return the Learning one.
