Unable to add Google Nest 3rd Gen Thermostat to Google Home

Hi, 

 

Recently had installed Google Nest 3rd Gen learning thermostat in the UK.

 

Device is added to Nest app - No problem and on the Wi-Fi. I used my Google account to login to nest app.

I want my wife to have access to the thermostat via her phone too. So in the  Nest app I went to add family member - but it the tells me I have. To do this via the Google Home App now.

So installed Google Home App. Logged in but then 2 issues.

1. not able to add Nest Thermostat in Google Home App.

2. Tried to add wife to family but not showing in the app but online is saying she is a family member now?

 

When I try to add Nest thermostat to Google Home App I go through add device setup - get to but where it says scan the QR code - it scans the code and puts a tick in the box and then returns to Google App Home Screen with nothing added? No devices are added. In the Google Home App the room ‘Hallway’ where I set the thermostat up to can be seen but no devices added. 

I don’t currently have any other Google devices in my home? Is that a requirement?

Nest device looks great and Nest App ok for me how do I enable my wife to have access to control it via her phone?

Thanks for getting back @SJCOBE . It is good to hear that the thermostat does now show up in the Google Home app. It would probably be best to make a separate thread on this but in the meantime you can try and create a new home structure in the Google Home app. Switch to that empty structure and try inviting them to that home structure using the Google Home app. Just to see if they get the invite and they can join it.

Hi Alex, thanks for reply..  I actually went into google on my laptop - removed my wife form the family 🙂 then resent a new invite - this time when she joined the family it showed in the app too - so all my issues are now finally fixed. (or perhaps just begun :-))

 

To all the other posters with same issue - my fix definitely came after I was asked to re-login to Nest App with Google account and then was prompted with pop up asking me to accept sharing of data with Google.  This is what I think made the thermostat appear in Google Home App.   Not sure why I was asked to login to nest App again - perhaps a app update - I am on IOS?  But that was definitely the trigger.  Good luck Everyone!
