Understanding scheduling

Hi folks

I've just installed my new system and all is working (regular gas boiler). I have a couple of questions.

Firstly, I don't quite understand how scheduling works. Worth stating, I live in an old stone cottage in the UK so have deactivated True Radiant. My boiler will have to run for ages before it hits certain temperatures and I'm worried about the cost over the longer term (I'm happy to be home during the warming up phase, for example).

Essentially I want the heating to turn on at 6am, turn off at 8am, turn back on at 16:30 and off at 22:00. I've therefore set a basic schedule of 20C at 6am, 10C (forcing it off?) at 8am, 20C at 16:30 and 10C at 22:00. Will that achieve my aim?

Secondly, last night, the day I installed, I set the Mode to 'Off' whilst I worked out how it all worked. Today at around midday I switched Mode to 'Heat' and it immediately activated my boiler, choosing to heat to a target temperature of 16C. Shouldn't it have adhered to my schedule which, as above, is set at 10C until 16:30 and therefore not activated until 16:30? Please can someone explain?

Thanks all.

Tim

Hi there, @Backhander,

Thanks for reaching out. First, you're right, correct. Setting the schedule does require a high setpoint for the heating to start and a lower setpoint for the heating to turn off. As for the OFF mode, this turns the schedule off for any action and overrides everything until you set up a new schedule. The OFF mode is used for summer in general. If you want to turn off the heating for a certain amount of time, you can just set it to the lowest temperature and that should do the job. Let us know if you need more help.
