I installed a Nest thermostat and then had an electrician install the Nest Power Connector to address low power messages. When they persisted, I hired a Nest Pro, who said my old wiring wouldn't support the Nest even with the Power Connector. He said I need a regular thermostat and need to disconnect the Nest Power Connector before installing it, returning all the wiring to the way it was before the Nest Power Connector. (He said he couldn't do that because he didn't install the Power Connector.) Question: Do I need to uninstall the Power Connector or can I leave it alone when I install a basic thermostat???? (I'd have to hire someone to uninstall it .....) Thanks.

Hi rrob80759,
Thanks for posting here in the Community forum. When replacing the Nest Thermostat with a basic thermostat, it's advisable to uninstall the Nest Power Connector as well. The Nest Power Connector is designed for power enhancements for the Nest Thermostat only and may not be compatible with a basic thermostat. Leaving it installed could cause wiring issues. It's best to restore the wiring configuration to its original state before installing the basic thermostat.
If you're unsure about how to properly uninstall or make wiring adjustments for the Nest Power Connector, it's advisable to contact a professional electrician or HVAC technician. They can ensure the wiring is set up correctly for the new basic thermostat and handle any necessary modifications.

Best,
