How do I set up Nest thermostat without wi-fi?

Did you ever get an answer?

Hello folks,

Thanks for reaching out to the Google Nest Community Forum. I'd love to help!

Disconnecting the Nest Thermostats from the Wi-Fi network will disable some of its smart features, including programming, controlling it remotely, and getting software updates. Just like other thermostats, the Nest Thermostats can still function even without a Wi-Fi connection.

For the Nest Learning Thermostat and the Nest Thermostat E:

  • When setting up initially, skip the part where it asks about the Nest App and Internet Connection and continue the prompt until it finishes.

For the Nest Thermostat 2020 model:

  • A Google Home app is still required, but skipping some setup processes will allow you to control the thermostat. To do this, continue the setup in the app until it reaches the point of selecting a Wi-Fi network, and then close the app and restart the thermostat by removing its batteries to refresh.
  • When it's ready, you should be able to see its home screen.

Keep me posted if that works.

Regards,
Mark
