Web control for newest non-learning Nest thermostat?

I'm considering purchasing a new non-learning Nest thermostat and have a few questions:

1) What 'generation' is this latest non-learning thermostat?

2) I understand the latest learning thermostat (4th generation) no longer supports control via a web interface (i.e. through Nest.com or google.home.com, but can I control the latest non-learning Nest thermostat via a web interface (in addition to the Google Home app)?  Being able to control both via Home app and also via web site is important because sometimes I don't have access to the app but do have access to the web.  I have seen conflicting reports of web control ability for the latest non-learning thermostat.

3) For the latest non-learning Nest thermostat, I understand presence sensing can be setup for either or both using the thermostats integral motion sensor, and also via geofencing of a phone.  If I only want to use the integral motion sensor, and NOT use the phone location, is that possible?

Hi @JJK5634

  1. That's the Nest Thermostat (2020 model). The latest model is Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen). You can compare thermostat models here.

  2. That's not correct, the opposite is true in fact. Device controls now available on Google Home for web - Google Nest Community

  3. Yes, you can enable or disable phone location for presence sensing at any time. Change presence-based automations settings - Google Nest Help

Thanks, David.  I saw a few other posts on here from earlier in 2025 saying the Nests could no longer be controlled via a web interface... it's great if I can continue to control supported devices through a web interface (in this case, Home for web).  Just to make sure I've inter pr ted correctly ,  bothe the Nest thermostat (2020 version linked above) and the lateat Neat learning thermostat, 4th gen, can be controlled via the Home for Web interface, correct?

That is correct. It's worth noting the available controls in Google Home on the web are currently limited. You can't access all the same settings as you can using the Google Home app on a phone or tablet.

Thanks, I didn't realize there was a difference in the controls for Google Home on web vs on the app.  For the Nest Thermostat (2020) and the newest Nest Learning Thermostat Gen 4, does the Google Home on Web support adjusting temperature?
