Where does the C wire connect on a custom radiant heat system

Electric hot water radiant floor system, working with nest except that it is complaining about lack of C wire: I have a 3rd wire through the walls that was unused in my previous thermostat which I connected to the C terminal on the nest. I can't figure out where it should connect at the heating system side. There is a 24v transformer with black and white wires that make it to the nest after some distribution network presumably to the controllers. The wires from the 24 volt correspond to R (black) and W (White) on the nest. The 2nd brown cable from the left goes to the nest and the red wire that is coiled in the photo is pulled out and stripped and ready. With an extension I tried to hook it up to each of the terminals on the transformer but neither got rid of the error on the Nest.
