Hi,

I have new air heat pump + air handler install. The air handler has back up electric heat. So, I have w and w2 wires. I put w wire to w socket. But where should I put my w2 wire?

Tried to combine w2 and ob wires to ob socket, the aux heat still not working. Please help...

Thank you...

It will depend a little on which Nest thermostat you have and what other wires are in use for your system. It's possible that if you have the "Nest Thermostat", it may not compatible be with your system as you described. If you have the Nest Learning Thermostat that wire would be connected to the W2 AUX terminal.

Which thermostat?

My thermostat is "Nest Thermostat" not the learning nor the E.

As noted it may not be compatible. It will depend on what other wires you are using. Hopefully you have labeled all your wires or you have a picture of the old thermostat used before the Nest.

On some non-Nest thermostats you will see a jumper which may result in two wires in one terminal. However on a Nest there will usually be just one wire per terminal. Connecting the W2 wire to the *O/B terminal if there is already a wire there, will almost certainly not work.

You might also find the Compatibility Checker helpful.
