Will Google Nest thermostat work on ecoTEC pro VCW BE 286/5-3 R4 (Belgium)

Hi everyone,

I want to buy the Google Nest thermostat but I am not sure it will work on ecoTEC pro VCW BE 286/5-3 R4

This is a boiler from Belgium and the did not include the VR33 OPENTHERM MODULE so I want to buy it.

I'd love to know more about this. Could you share a photo of your current thermostat's wiring with visible labels? Also, you could try our compatibility checker to see if your current system is compatible with the Nest Thermostat.

I have the exact same heater and can confirm it works with the 3rd gen Nest Learning Thermostat. You do need to buy the VR33, which Vaillant claims is incompatible with Belgian models. But it works fine over here. 

I did need to change the Deellast setting in the Vaillant configuration from “auto” to 24kW otherwise the heater keeps running on low modulation. Otherwise it works fine. First impression is that the heater runs longer at lower power, which is exactly what OpenTherm is all about.
