Do I connect the white wire to the W1 or W2 (Aux) on the Nest Thermostat?

Hello Johnjosephgio,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community! I'd be happy to take a look into this for you.

When connecting the white wire to your Nest Thermostat, it typically depends on your HVAC system. In most cases, the white wire (W1) is used for the primary heating system, while W2 (Aux) is for the auxiliary or second-stage heating.

If you have a single-stage heating system, you should connect the white wire to W1. However, if you have a two-stage heating system or a heat pump with auxiliary heating, then connect it to W2 (Aux).

It's always a good idea to consult your HVAC system's manual or share with us a photo of your thermostat's wiring setup so I can provide prompts and suggestions based on your wiring configuration.

Best regards,
Mark
