 Hi

Am confused that we don't have a R wire. I just see a jumper wire.

Any suggestions?

Thank you!

What kind of heating system do you have?

Is it a Furnace with ductwork? Or is this a boiler with hot water heating radiators or baseboard?

Also do you see any extra wires in the cable in the wall or does it only have 2 wires in the cable?

You need a extra wire color for a C wire if you have the regular Nest (non learning).

Thanks for the quick reply.

It is a boiler with hot water and radiators. No I don't see any other wires in the cable in the wall. I have the regular non learning Nest.

You will need to either run a new tstat cable with 5 conductors that you can buy at home depot or lowes etc in 25 or 50 ft. This is preferred method to get a C wire connection.

Or get a power adapter kit from Google.

Otherwise the Nest will run off battery power and need to be replaced often and possibly wi-fi will disconnect all the time due to low power without a C wire.

Do you have pics of where the wires attach at your boiler? We need to see where a C wire can be attached and it can be tricky on boilers with older controls.

Hi

Thanks for all the suggestions. We have an electrician coming to do some other work around the house and will have them help us with Nest too.

I appreciate all the replies.
