Hello, my Google nest is saying no wires are detected during set up. I have scoured the forums and have tried all the things -
Wire gauge is 22, they are clean, straight, and properly stripped. Power is on. I have tried restarting the nest but removing batteries and leaving the c wire detached. This approach seemed to get me further than anything else.
I am replacing an old nest because it was being weird (only working when the lights are on or when woken up) I thought it was the thermostat but maybe it's something else?
The c wire seems to be the problem, but I can't figure out why. Any ideas?

An update - I was able to fully set up my thermostat but it has a no power message. The power is definitely on.

Hi Gilsonmama,
Thanks for reaching out to our community!
It's great that you were able to set up your thermostat. Let's troubleshoot the "no power" message together so you can get it working properly.
There are times when your Nest thermostat might show that the wires you entered during setup aren't being detected. This usually happens because the thermostat wasn't seated properly when you reached the wiring configuration screen. If that's the case, a simple forced restart should do the trick, you can do this by removing the batteries and leave the thermostat off the wall for about five minutes.
However in some cases, wires might not be detected due to the C wire not being properly grounded. If this is the problem, you may need to contact a technician to ensure everything is functioning properly.
In the meantime, you can try working without the C wire. If your system provides enough consistent power to the thermostat, you might not need it. However, if the battery drains too quickly or the thermostat explicitly asks for the C wire, then it's best to get it checked out.
Let me know how it goes.
Regards,
Angel.
