Yellow Wire but No Air Conditioner n260 error

Another person (Bob) had this issue in the old forum, but the answer provided was not complete and replies aren't allowed, so I'm starting this question to answer it. 🙂

If you don't have AC but you had a yellow wire connected to your old thermostat, you won't want to connect it to the new Nest thermostat (because it's for AC!). Just put electrical tape on the end of it and tuck it in.

But you will still have an error on your thermostat! How do you get rid of it? Here you go:

  1. Open the Home app on your phone.
  2.

    Tap your Nest thermostat’s icon.
  3. In the top right, tap Settings, then Thermostat-->Wiring-->Update wiring.
  4. Remove the yellow wire and click Update.
