Your Thermostat wasn’t fully set up

Reluhcs

Hello everyone, I installed a google nest thermostat in our family vacation home. There are 4 users that can control the the google home apps. 2 of the 4 users keep getting an error message when they click on “thermostat”.

“Your thermostat wasn’t fully set up. To set up your thermostat, you’ll need to remove it from your home and start setup over again. You won’t lose your wiring and equipment set up.”

The other 2 users can open the thermostat app and control the nest no problems. Also, the 2 that are having issues have their app updated. Will removing them from the home app and reinstalling work? I haven’t tried that because we aren’t currently at the home.

Hello Jeff,

I have not had a chance to ask the two household members having trouble if they have the address in their app. I will respond with an answer one way or the other when I do.

Hello,

I checked the app on their device to confirm if they had the address or not per DD8’s suggestion. And they do indeed have the address in Settings, Home Information. They still cannot access the thermostat in google home. But are able to access to the wifi points within the app.

Hi Reluhcs,

Thanks for getting back to us.

Could you factory reset your Nest Thermostat and remove it from the app? Here's how: How to restart or reset a Nest Thermostat

Keep us posted.

Best,

Mel

Hi Mark,

I did see Mel’s factory reset recommendation. I have not had the opportunity to try that yet because it is the thermostat in my second home.

Thanks,

Nick
