can't connect newly installed router's WiFi to existing Nest

We just got a new router installed today and our Nest Thermostat display now reads 'WiFi disconnected'.  We can access the 'settings' icon on the screen, but tapping it doesn't connect us to anything.  The instructions from the app on our cell phone for this is not working.  I don't know if we have to start from the beginning and reinstall the app, or if there's another solution to this problem.  Really bad news that this information, whether it originates with 'Google' or specifically with 'Nest' is not more readily available, coherent, or effective!  We appreciate any success stories out there!

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Touch and hold your thermostat's tile.
  3. Select the Settings cog > Remove.
  4. On your thermostat, go to Settings > Account > Disconnect.
  5. In the Home app, tap + at the top left of the home screen.
  6. Then select Set up device > New device.
  7. Choose a home > Select Thermostat (It may specify which thermostat, select Nest Thermostat).
  8. Begin thermostat setup by scanning the QR code on the back of the thermostat display.
  9. When you reach the Get started screen, select Already installed.
  10. You can then skip most of the usual setup steps until you reach the Wi-Fi setup step. Here, you can type in the new password and network name.

Thank you. I think I may have accidentally removed my nest from the app. Also, on the thermostat, when I slide down to settings, and tap it, nothing happens.

Sounds like your thermostat may be stuck or frozen. Try this:

  1. Pull your thermostat off its base.
  2. Remove both AAA batteries.
  3. Replace the batteries and press your thermostat onto the base until it clicks into place.
  4. It should then turn restart and turn back on.
