constantly loosing connection to wifi

I bought 2 thermostats so I could monitor my house and shop temperatures this winter.  They are turning out to be worthless as every time I turn around I cannot connect because they have dropped the wifi connection   I have reserved both stats IP addresses last Thursday, Saturday I lost my home connection.   If I unplug and replug they reattach but that would mean driving 300 miles this weekend.  If this cannot be resolved I must start recommending no one purchase these useless devices.

Think I've resolved this to being a low battery.  At 2.9 volts they were not low for most devices but for nest they were. The batteries were put in brand new when I was installing the nest. I had challenges getting the correct leg of the 24v transformer connected to the Tstat's C terminal but that only took at most 1 hour.

I highly advise the use of 1.5v Lithium batteries

Hey ComputerJoe22,

Sorry for the delay and also to hear about what's going on with your Nest thermostat. I want to get into the bottom of this.

A few questions — what specific Nest thermostats are these? Are they both connected to the same Wi-Fi router? Also, are you getting a code or a message on their displays or on your Google Home/Nest app when they're offline? If you could also provide a rundown of the steps you've tried aside from assigning them static IP addresses, that would be awesome.

Best,
