exchanging nest thermostat for learning nest thermostat.

Hello, I currently have the Google Nest Thermostat. We just had out first child and want to use the nest sensors for the baby room. The sensors are only compatible with the Learning Thermostats and the Nest E.

My question is - If we have the Nest Thermostat installed with a C wire, can I simply purchase the Nest Learning Thermostat and slap it on the base? Or is the install more in depth due to a new model?

Hi NickChristo116,

Thanks for checking it with us — congratulations for having your first new born child!

Nest Thermostat 2020 and Nest Learning Thermostat are using a different display and base, as well as the app.

To use the Nest Learning Thermostat, you have to disconnect all the wires from your old thermostat base, and connect them all to the Nest Learning Thermostat base. Make sure to take a photo of the wires connected to it for your reference. Also, after the installation of your new thermostat, you can proceed with adding it to the Nest app.

To assist you with wiring configuration, please share with us the photo of the wires connected to your thermostat. Ensure that the labels of the wires are visible.

Best,

Jenelyn
